OUR NATIONAL LANGUAGE

Mr. Ferdinand      : Reza, what language do Indonesia people speak everyday?

Reza             : Of course, they speak our national language, besides their provincial dialect.

Mr. Ferdinand      : Right, what is the original of Indonesian language, Erna?

Erna                     : It’s  pure Malay spoken in Riau Sumatera, sir.

Mr. Ferdinand     : Good. Where was it recognized as our national language, Zaky?

Zaky                     : At the all  Indonesian Youth Congress in Jakarta, sir.

Mr. Ferdinand      : Very well. When, Reza?

Reza                     : On October the twenty eight, nineteen twenty eight, sir.

Mr. Ferdinand      : Right. Who developed Indonesian language, John?

John                     : Journalists, authors, writers, and politicians, teacher.

Mr. Ferdinand      : How many languages do you speak, Erna?

Erna               : I speak four languages: Madurese, Indonesian, Arabic, and English.

 Mr. Ferdinand     : Very good. Please mention some of Indonesian etnic groups, Zaky?

Zaky                     : Well. Madurese, Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, and many other.

Mr. Ferdinand      : That’s right. What is the symbol of the Republic of Indonesia, Reza?

Reza                     : It’s an eagle, sir.

Mr. Ferdinand      : Very well. What’s the motto of Indonesian people, John?

John                     : Bhineka Tunggal Ika.

Mr. Ferdinand      : Do you know what it means, Erna?

Erna                     : Yes sir. It means unity in diversity.

Talking About Holiday

A         : What will you do on your holiday?

B       : I’ll visit my grand parents in the village.

A       : Where is it?

B       :  It’s on Central Java.

A       : Oh, it’s very interesting.

B       : Yes, may be I will. You can join me if you don’t have something to do in your holiday.

A       : That’s a good idea.

At The Bus Station

A       : You look confuse, can I help you?

B       : Yes, I want to go to Kediri. But there are two kinds of direction to Tulungagung.

A       : Oh. I see. There are two direction. One passes Papar and the other passes Pare, Kediri. Where will you go?

B       : I want to go to Minggiran. Which bus direction should I take?

A       : If you want to go to Minggiran Kediri, you should take the bus to direction to Tulungagung passes Papar.

B       : Well. I see then. Thank you very much.

A       : you’re welcome.  

Asking About Food

Mother       : What would you like to eat for dinner?

Father        : If you don’t mind. I’d like to eat rice, fried chicken, and soup.

Mother       : Of course not.

Son              : Mother, I want to eat.

Mother       : Do you like with fish, chicken, egg, or with shrimp?

Son             : I prefer with shrimp and scrambled egg.

Mother       : All right. Wait a moment. I’ll cook all what you and your father want.
